Hundreds of recent studies show VK2 is required in many life-sustaining and life-giving processes. However, it appears that all menaquinones (MK) are not interchangeable and MK-4 is the only form that is not the product of bacterial synthesis.
MK-4 is the bioactive form the body relies on to form vitamin K dependent proteins (VKDP) and run metabolic processes in the brain and body. It also plays a role in the reduction of inflammation, which clearly is the driver of chronic disease. Due to its role in the protection of mitochondrial damage, VK2 could also be relevant in preventing disease progression in multiple sclerosis (MS).
Our modern diets are almost devoid of this essential nutrient, which is having a devastating impact on our health. We know from early, pioneering nutritionists that all traditional cultures had sources of MK-4, which kept them in vital health generation after generation. In my practice, over the past ten years, I have helped patients discover these benefits: results are astounding and clinical applications unlimited.
