The Wahls Protocol Membership Site

I am on day 2 of the basic wahls diet. I have her cookbook and both protocol books. I've read a lot and seen many videos on Dr. Wahls. I have PMR and chose not to take prednisone. I was diagnosed a few months ago. Mornings are difficult and I can do most things, but with pain. Much better in the afternoon. It's not as bad as many others have it on other forums.

My first morning smoothie was straight out of the cookbook and both yesterday and today I had to have a bowel movement after about 2 hours and it was serious diarrhea. I haven't had that happen since I could remember - at least not last 20 years. And until about 10 years ago, I had a fruit smoothie every morning (along with other food) with zero problems. I've never had digestion problems, eating healthy for the last 50 years. I am 72 and since I basically (90%) gave up dairy about that many years ago, it was easy to do the rest (although I miss red wine greatly). I did give up all the items the protocol suggests, tapering them off over the last 7-10 days. Any ideas on the diarrhea with the smoothie?

I added kale to it. These two smoothies were the first smoothies I've ever had where I added vegetables to it and I did a smoothie every morning for about 10 years. I don't have any problem digesting raw vegetables and have eaten my share of kale and raw vegetables all my life. So the next day I added no vegetables at all and had no problem at all. I'm just not going to add vegetables to a smoothie with fruit in it anymore. I know people that have had smoothies with vegetables in the past. I never thought much of the idea personally of masking the taste like that.
