In addition to an autoimmune disorder, I have neurally mediated hypotension, similar to POTS. My primary care suggested I look at the Wahls Protocol for the autoimmune issue and I started Wahls Paleo two days ago. My blood pressure dropped to 87/59 this morning and, when medication, salt tablets and water didn’t bring it up, I had to use NormalLyte which contains 6.77 g dextrose. (It’s an electrolyte formula that you have with water.) My first question is whether other people with dysautonomia are able to do the Wahls diets. My second question is whether intermittent use of NormalLyte or Liquid IV is going to counteract any progress with the Wahls Paleo diet? I’m trying to avoid long term antibiotics for the autoimmune disorder and really hoping the Wahls Protocol can work for me. Thanks, Mia
Mia, have you contacted the practitioner who recommended trying the protocol? Please do discuss this with them. If NormaLyte helped you get your levels better please continue to use it. We have had people with dysautonomia use the protocol without issue. You may need to reduce your carbs at a much slower pace. Again please talk with your personal medical team.
